Some experiences from another TUN-Asia journey. Finally cracked the taxi code in Tunis. Bolt is the answer!
- Airport-Centre: Arrived like ramalair with the 23.30 AF flight so was landside midnight-ish. Used airport wifi to get a Bolt cab. Ensured I stayed in wifi range in the airport. Driver called and said he would wait at exit. Exit, see a guy mentioning my name, driver brings me to his parked car, 150 meters away, which in fact was a normal cab. Paid 20 dinar for the service (13 was the offer on the app, but happy it worked well so thought a tip was in order)
- Centre-airport next morning: got an 11 dinar offer and decided to pay 15 or so. Arrived in 3 minutes. Also a regular cab.
Back and forth to the airport for just over 10 Euro, a bargain. Seems that many Tunis cabbies use Bolt to get clientele. Works much quicker/better as hailing one on say Bourguiba. As for hotel, I wanted a clean bed and hot shower at a safe central well maintained place and Hôtel Métropole Résidence gave just that for a bargain price, including a good breakfast.
In the JED lounge now. Temperature is ok. The dreaded music is still the same as always ;-).Managed to get a slumber room waiting for my BKK flight and doing some work. Filling up with food and drink so that I can directly go to sleep when airborne. I have seat 5L so should avoid the 4A disaster discussed above, even if it is the same plane.
