Well lets hope, becuase the most 'prefereable' seat we have is currently my one, and it's an aisle, my partner is stuck in a middle surrounded by 3 strangers, I doubt anyone is going to want to swap for that one.
Best chance is probably seeing if the person in the middle seat next to your partner is willing to swap with you. If you want to be together on the flight the middle seats work well.
