I've been in a similar situation. When the GA came on the plane to do the final check, I asked them as they were walking through the aisle if I could be cleared. They went back to the gate desk, then came back onto the plane, and told me to go into the FC seat. I guess that's my advice for anyone who has this situation in the future and if the GA is willing/the flight is on time.
