Seems the concept of interlining baggage is slowly fading away.
Case in point I was flying UA to AS on two separate tickets and UA in INTL station would not check bag to final destination on AS. However once I got to the UA hub post immigration they were able to interline the bag over to AS.

A colleague was on a similar itinerary but UA to UA and UA did it with no issues in the INTL station.
