I've swapped seats all the time with my wife <I get stuck in Y, she gets my J - sometimes I pay for extra SQD to me, sometimes I'm eUpd> and never had an issue. My wife in J just tells the Service Director "I have my husband's seat", and I've never said anything to the staff in Y...they are just counting bodies and ensuring no complaints about stealing seats from other passengers lol.

And from the quote, also done this multiple times in my above use case - I would have Zone 1 as it's J, and my wife Zone 2 from her TD credit card, again never an issue. The key is the person in Zone 1 is holding everyones passes
