Really surprised how poor Delta's international coach meals have become. I have status with AA and UA, and have thought for years that Delta had a somewhat better int'l coach product than its main competitors. I don't think that's necessarily true any more. Just flew DL to New Zealand in coach and I was surprised how little -- and how bad -- the food had become. For a 12+ hour flight, they served a very modest hot dinner (a little chicken and rice, along with a small macaroni salad and small packaged cake), and very simple breakfast (a warmed egg english muffin sandwich with no meat, and a few pieces of cut up fruit). This is about what I've seen on long AA int'l flights. And a recent Qatar coach flight had quality coach meal service.

What's odd about this is that, as an AMEX Platinum member, I see excellent, ample food in DL's Sky Clubs. It's weird to me how Delta now prioritizes food on the ground but not on their aircraft.

FWIW, on my DL domestic coach flights, I also saw cutbacks in the quality of the onboard snacks. Simple stuff, similar to what AA offers.

Not sure if any of this really matters, but Delta is no longer a "premium airline" if this is how they're going to treat their coach passengers.
