I think the issue is that they are not currently able to differentiate between Gold and GGL on core systems - so it all just maps to the lowest tier of OWE in the AA program, Platinum Pro. Prior to Platinum Pro, all Golds and GGLs mapped to EP. Who knows, there may be an advantage in GGL being a distinct tier that would allow it to be mapped to EP or even CK?

Like you, I fly a lot on AA domestically. I have been shown by a CK agent how I (as a GGL) show up on their system (on their smartphone type device). It does seem strange that one system can differentiate a GGL and the other core system is unable to.
