QR Family Programme

I thought it might be a good idea to open a separate thread for everything related to QR's Family Programme.

Here's QR's page about it: Family Programme.

The T&Cs say:
  • All Avios earned by family members are credited to the main member’s account.
  • Avios earned by family members are based on the tier status of the main member.
  • Flight activities by family members do not earn Qpoints.
Overall the program does not seem very useful, as family members cannot earn status, and generally seem to enjoy zero benefits from being in the program. There is one exception I can think of where the program becomes somewhat useful: enrolling small children who do not fly without the main member and do not fly enough to earn status anyway.

And here comes my first question:
The T&Cs say that "Avios earned by family members are based on the tier status of the main member." So, I would expect that family members earn the tier bonus, just as the main member does (e.g. 25% more Avios for Silver, 75% for Gold, etc). However that is clearly not the case. In fact, the Privilege Club tiers website claims that - no matter what tier you are - your "benefits" include:
  • 100% mileage per family member on all eligible flights
Claiming this as a benefit seems ridiculous. On top of that, it contradicts the claim in the family programme's T&Cs ("Avios earned by family members are based on the tier status of the main member."). Has anyone spoken to QR about this obvious contradiction? Any thoughts or insights? Cheers.
