Yes, I recognize that spring festival is this week, but it's nevertheless telling that nobody also wants to fly FROM China to the US for the rest of February. Before COVID there used to be a lot of travel to China for the holidays and from China after.
In any event, I checked the first three weeks of March on EF and nearly every flight in both directions is P9 R9. March loads on UA's twice daily TPE flights look better, and it's a much smaller country. So again it doesn't seem like there's much need to increase capacity for now.
I don't know what the deal is with high fares to east Asia. Japan flights are also wide open (PN9 IN9) and they want $9k for a RT business class ticket. Meanwhile Singapore flights with higher loads are under $5k RT in J.
