It has to be cheaper than renting and parking a car for a day to just get you to the airport and less flaffing around.

there are also on the BA forum some really good advice at what to do around Heathrow if you find yourself with a 6-8 hour layover. Sitting in a lounge would not be high on my list….

I would accept that the flight change is what it is, and making the most of it.
