Hi, Allow me to reintroduce myself. I am ATC, and I hail from the past. I was once a regular in one specific forum, and have extensive experience in the indiginities we all suffer as air travelers. To this day, my proudest achievement is having been nominated in the US Airways "Hall of Pain."
FF mileage plans have certainly changed, and it is too much for me to absorb at once.
To cut to the chase. I am AAdvantage Gold until Mar 31 2025. I've been an AAdvatage Member since the dawn of the aerodrome. My award balance remains in the several hundred thousand due to extensive flying in prior career (and a US Airways coding crew that...well...never mind).
I am being told that I need 14,532 more Loyalty Points to reach AAdvantage Platinum by Feb 29. Is this as simple as flying 2.5 coast to coasts non-stop, Or does it have to be a certain fare? Could someone suggest non-stop destinations (domestic or international) from Boston. Another burning question, if I somehow manage to get an upgrade on lowly Gold Status, is it an upgrade to the front First/Business Class cabin, or is an upgrade to Economy plus deluxe or somesuch.
Thank you so much.
It's purely on spend. So you need $2100 in AA flight spend (before taxes). Whether you do it on coast to coasts, or on an expensive round trip to ROC is up to you. International has higher tax components so I'd avoid. (And Basic fares would require much more spending, since they are 2x LPs before bonus rather than 5x). I'd look at the Help I need XXX LPs thread for other ideas.
Upgrades are to Business/First, you get MCE (economy extra legroom) at check in.
