Does this mean if the plane is full and you are forced to gate check? Seems like a weird way to pinch pennies when it's likely going to delay the flight from boarding even more if the person refuses to pay? I guess maybe agents would be better about this and ask for volunteers first and hoping none of them are BE
I’ve been on about 100 BE segments recently and I’ve never seen them charge. I have developed one tactic that I’ve been forced to use on some European carriers, which is to declare excess value: let’s extend the delay with some forms. Swiss was the only carrier that called my bluff, so I spent $100+ to insure laundry.
