I think the fees for Plat are a bit steep, but I could use the 15 extra XP that Gold offers over Silver for the €120 it costs extra.

If there's a way to trigger an upgrade offer by spending a lot, I could just charge my planned new IKEA kitchen to the Amex card instead of paying it by bank like most people will do.
But if that won't work, I'd rather upgrade before I do my renovations so I get the 20% extra miles.
