Timeline: We booked the hotel in punta cana, got a confirmation and then booked our flights last year in May. In November we found out that the hotel was sold and apparently is now not operating at all anymore.

We asked Choice Hotels to help us out (e.g. provide us with another all-inclusive in PC, credit us a reasonable amount of points in order to make up for our inconvenience or refund us our flights). The reason we asked for a flight refund was because at this point we have no place to stay and all the all-inclusive resorts are booked or much much more expensive than what it was last year.

We asked Choice Hotels for other options and again all they did was give us 30,000 points, which is not even enough for a night at one of their hotels there or really anywhere.

We booked our flights with the AA Citi Card advantage and they say that it doesn't come with an insurance for these kinds of issues.

I feel like we have exhausted all options but I am desperate to have Choice hotels make up for this. Because they told us up until November that we have have an existing reservation. This was supposed to be our first island vacation and it turned into a big chaos.
