But it doesn't. It doesn't specifically identify any particular partner, nor does it specifically mention any such "equivalents" on any other partner airline. There is no mention of AF, KL, or their Economy "Light". There is also no mention that *every* partner *MUST* have some fare/fare family that *HAS* to be considered equivalent to Delta's "Basic Economy"

AFKL "Light" is not an equivalent of DL's "Basic Economy". True, both Delta Basic Economy and AFKL Light are the cheapest seats available, and neither comes with a checked baggage allowance - but that's where the similarities end:
  • AFKL do not offer revenue tickets for sale to the general public on their website which do not earn mileage/status credits, in the manner of DL's Basic Economy.
  • AFKL do not offer revenue tickets for sale to the general public on their website which do not allow seats to be selected, in the manner of DL's Basic Economy.
  • AFKL do not offer revenue tickets for sale to the general public on their website which do not allow status members to access lounges, in the manner of DL's Basic Economy.
  • AFKL do not offer revenue tickets for sale to the general public on their website which cannot be upgraded, in the manner of DL's Basic Economy.
  • AFKL do not offer revenue tickets for sale to the general public on their website which do not allow you to board with the Zone normally associated with your Skyteam status, in the manner of DL's Basic Economy.

I'm not familiar with most of the other Skyteam members' fares and fare families, but I wonder if there are actually any such partner fares which are actually equivalent to DL's Basic Economy - perhaps there are (Aeromexico's "Basic" also doesn't allow seat selection, nor does it provide status credits, so it's clearly much closer to Delta's "Basic Economy" than is AFKL's Economy "Light"). But don't fall into the trap of assuming that every partner has to have a fare/fare family that must be considered equivalent, just because it is the cheapest/most restrictive fare.
