What's baffling is the passport should be the easiest. Scan the machine readable zone for the information of the person, then use the MRZ info to pull the actual digital image file from the biometric passport chip... no need to worry about scanner glare/dust/etc.)
That being said in December when they started this NextGen update, the Jetblue terminal C CLEAR pods hadn't been updated to read passports, but the A/B pods were. Going to MCO A/B pods it took about sixty seconds total to re-enroll including re-acquiring fingerprints and iris (they wiped my profile out to facilitate the nextgen update), and the document update.
