The passengers are unarmed & at most a taser may be necessary in extreme circumstances.

Armed police are there to deal with terrorist attacks or incidents involving weapons or threat to life.

If you were a terrorist group wondering how to acquire guns whilst airside this wouldn't be a bad ploy to have them brought to you.
