£800 for CE is far worse value than WTP at £600. WTP got you more Tier Points, and a wider seat with IFE and far more legroom. The extra stop at LCA adds 1.5 hours to the journey time so you are also in the seat for far longer than you would be to CAI or AMM. As a minimum you should get extra TPs to compensate: 80 + 40 would seem reasonable!
Group 1 boarding is largely pointless - especially with the volume of status holders on the route - given that groups 1-3 are so often called together. And you're going to have far more difficulty with overhead lockers in CE than in WTP.
In terms of F&B, yes, CE is better but than WTP (particularly in presentation) the difference is not exactly night and day. Yes, you get lounge access in CE but you could book into one of the third party lounges and still be left with change from the difference.
The financial motivation for BA's change is obvious, but TLV has gone from a destination I was very much considering flying to with BA, to one that I'll visit with either El Al or one of the LCCs. Their loss I suppose!
