I don't want to get into bad Omni here, but...

I've been at a few (3, maybe 4) properties where the US President or US Vice President have also been simultaneously. I've also been in the NYC Trump Tower when he was also in town. Other than a metal detector and a bag scan, the experiences were not terribly disruptive. And I recall very professional and pleasant Secret Service officers each time.

It is my understanding that guests are not to be inconvenienced any more than necessary. That list of prohibited items is just over the top and to also state a confiscated item would not be returned. What if I was a guest bringing my drone back in? I have to go check into another hotel and leave my stuff behind in my room?

I spend a fair amount of time in WDC. I respect the need for adequate security for these elected officials. But it bugs me to have to endure a convoy of ~20 vehicles plus blocking of intersections well in advance of the convoy's approach. Just in the past six months, I've seen the Bulgarian president's convoy - 2 vehicles and the Portugal's PM's convoy - 6 vehicles.
