Raffles is perhaps the most overrated hotel on earth. It is truly nothing special (well let me correct that, if you are used to exclusively drab chain hotels in mid-America or mid-Europe, you may think it special). The rooms are non-spectaucular, and the restaurants serve mediocre food. If you MUST have a Singapore sling at the long bar, great, go and have one of these overpriced sickly concoctions (like you ever drink them anywhere else anyway!). If you want that colonial experience, try the Manila Hotel in Manila, same sort of thing but much better value for money. There are many better hotels in SIn at much better rates.
