The seats in J & Y are almost the same as far as I am concerned. I have been doing cheap MR YVR-OGG/HNL for over a year now, and I choose to stay in Y most times in 19C/D as seats in row 18 do not recline as you have more distance behind you as people will go to the bathroom and you have less banging and grabbing as I find most people need to grab everything to get out of their seats. Row 19/20 are emergency exists as the extra room allows you more room to get up and move around better. As Zone 1 boards first which allows me to walk down the aisle and grab a bottle of water conveniently laid out in J (most J passengers on these routes are kettles and do not know what to expect), grab a pillow out of the bag from the overhead bin, left side above rows 12-14, and set yourself up. Depending on how slow the kettles flying in J are trying to figure out which is row 1 or row 3 let alone their actual seats, you can sometimes go back to the pillow area and grab one of those super thin blankets which I swear are made from navel lint. The pillow is not for my head but for my butt as six hours down, one hour on-site, and six hours back, my butt gets sore as those seats are not for comfort. When paying $350-$500 round trip in flex for almost 6,000SQM it's value so I do it. When the cabin crew recognizes me, then a bottle of water is provided to me and they look after me.
