So one question... if you book a reward flight (say, a 100k redemption) and get the miles redeposited, and need to cancel. Is AA IT sophisticated enough to claw them back?

Obviously you have 1 year to leverage this reward, but curious what would happen as many people do book a speculative reward flights and then leverage the free cancel policy.
