I accepted a retention offer for my Hilton Business card last year. After I accepted it, I decided the offer was too poor for me to actually put spend on the card just to get the $50 statement credit the retention offer entitles me to.
The annual fee is coming up soon. This is the first annual fee for this card, and I am thinking about closing the card. I know there won't be any clawback of credit since, well, I never received any. But, will I be on Amex's naughty list?
I am in popup jail with Amex at the moment. I don't particularly mind that because I am still getting my credit card applications approved with Chase, Citi, BoA etc at the moment. I believe Amex will come around when the business economy improves. However, I also don't want to antagonize Amex, as Amex cards are by far the largest component of my credit card portfolio.
Thoughts/opinions on what I should do? Cancel the card as it has no bearing on my future with Amex, or suck up the $95 annual fee for this Amex Hilton Biz renewal?
If it matters I just renewed and paid for my Schwab Platinum card annual fee, and will probably also renew my Delta Biz Gold card when the first annual fee is due this fall.
