For a Maldives' first time visitor, this resort and the water around is amazing.
Great room (Overwater Pool Villa), great service, great sea and sea wildlife, great people, nice happy hour at the Sip, good (but very pricey) excursions.
The downside is the food & beverage price for lunch and dinner. The meal plans are not attractive price wise for someone not eating that much. The drink plan is absolutely useless for people who doesn't really drink. The Asian buffet at $125 +27.6% tax/service per person is definitely too much for the quality and the variety of the food available. $48 +27.6% tax/service for a single hamburger is still too much.
The restaurant Origin is quite pricey too, but at least it's worth it for the quality and the originality of some of the dishes.
I would go back for the room setup - right on the water and with a lot of fish just beneath the room (we saw a small nurse shark and a stingray in the "lagoon" in front of the room) - and the service provided; they were awaiting us at the airport for an early arrival and they coordinated the departure with the Male hotel were we were staying for the last night before an early flight out.
Ps
We had breakfast at the Habitat on the 8th February and we saw the sharks too. They have a couple of little siblings that swims near the beach in front of the Aura.
The shark we saw in the lagoon was a little bigger then the first two but was not an adult.
