The "privilege" of the Delta hotel website ( in my experience) always incurs a variable addition to the direct booking price.
As you note Delta Stays is powered by Expedia. I would say their prices are similar. You are paying for some rewards, either SkyMiles/MQD or One Key Cash. Sometimes they are cheaper than booking direct, especially close in.
