I remember reading that you were supposed to pay for the ticket with your Aviator card for this benefit. I know AMEX has used similiar language with their Delta card, but I always get free baggage on Delta - regardless of what card I pay with.

If your AAdvantage account number is in the reservation record, and your travel companions are booked in the same reservation, all four of you will receive one free checked bag each (assuming that you are starting your trip in the U.S.) Form of payment for the tickets is irrelevant.
