They should make all efforts to locate and ship your bag to you.
Failing that then you need to claim directly with the airline asap.
I thought StaySure might be a good firm for travel insurance for future trips as they used to offer insurance for countries on the FCDO no travel list. Sadly, they won't for Somalia. Annoyingly, this isn't an issue with the destination, it's an issue with the originating airport.
The airline tried to locate it and finally reached the compensation stage but I was stalling to see if it will be found because I heard their compensation is tiny and I rather wait for my luggage.
I read somewhere here about using tracking tags which I have used for a separate repeat journey, which was fun to watch on my screen seeing my luggage move across different points. Also in I was checking-in for this repeat journey, the check in staff asked if I had any electronic in my luggage I am about to check in such as laptop. I didn’t this time but I asked why and the reply was it isn’t allowed and my luggage would be pulled aside! I had no idea about this and it was just time hearing it. This might be the cause why my lost luggage was not loaded from London Heathrow in the first place.
