I would have thought bassinet seats were required for tiny infants for safety reasons?
It is NHS guidance that babies should sleep in their own beds to avoid accidents where a parent would end up lying on their child, but it is only guidance, not law.

It depends on the kid, and on how tired they are. Ours has had about a dozen (short haul) flights where she was asleep the whole way, and just last weekend we had a horrendous trip back from Switzerland because she was tired and something disturbed her as she fell asleep on ascent. It was game over after that...
