I am almost certainly destined to call the BAH assistance line from JNB next month. Whilst booking flight/car I chose BA55 landing at 0725 and an Airlink flight on to DUR leaving at 0935. I realise now that the chances of making the Airlink really is going to be a challenge. You would think 2 hours and 10 minutes would be enough. If it lands on time, we have to disembark, walk to Fast Track immigration which was a joke last August and took about 35 minutes to get through, then wait for our bags (one of which failed to arrive so had to report it) and of course they can’t be sent through direct to DUR as JNB is our first port of call in SA. Then, we must make the fairly long foot journey, neither of us being spring chickens on to Terminal B to check in for Airlink but we may be far too late for that. The next Airlink is at 1725.
I did phone BAH to discuss this knowing I’d have to fork out out cash to change the flight but I just wanted assurance that they would put us on the SAA at about 1100-ish and he says yes they would. Even so I am entirely to blame. I can only imagine at the time of my cash booking that the SAA connection was a tad dearer. I have downloaded the Airlink app as then I can check in once we have our bags. We live and learn!
