[QUOTE=ACORD]I think you are missing the point.

Air Canada and AeroPlan are separate businesses. Air Canada has decided to reduce Aeroplan expenses in 2005 by buying fewer miles from Aeroplan than before. Air Canada are aligning "points expenditure" with revenue -- so if you fly on AC metal, buy a City Pass, or purchase a more expensive ticket the number of points go up.

I am all for AC trying to improve its REvenue. I would be the first to adimit that AC giving Bonus points for*A flifhts was very generous.
However,AC has made a 360 degrees turn,as a SE,if you choose PKG.#1,you give up 100,000 miles minimum if you qualify for SE 2006.
It would have made more business sense,if AC would have done what UA does: 100% Bonus Miles on UA metal.
I for one would have have made every effort to book AC flights to achieve my SE,as I have done to qualify for my UA1K.
If I choose PKG.#1, no reason for me to fly on AC metal. I could take any *A carrier coming my way and give my miles to AC,become SE again.
