Learning about BA and how great/miserable flying can be is a bonus.
Did you keep your boarding pass? Do you have a receipt for the upgrade?
I had a very long, drawn-out, similar episode after I paid for 4 (yes, 4!) AUPs (airport upgrades, that is) from paid CW to F, MIA to LHR.
I foresaw some issues and so kept all the BPs but despite this I had to send them a copy of my credit card statement in the end.
The problem for me stemmed from the fact that it was originally an AA ticket, albeit with the flights on BA.
