Dont know what happened here and glad you will get to Paris but I have the Heathrow app and that normally says when gate is open, when it’s boarding and when gate closes and when aircraft taxis and takes off. I too would have gone to the gate when it said Gate Open or checked with the lounge staff or those on the entry. They can see gate activity.
