As a regular BA flyer, I know I can't trust the app and hence would have headed down (as it seems most / all other passengers did). But one of the major pain points about BA (for me at least) is that the app can't be trusted. This would not have happened on any of the US majors, which overall leads to a less stressful experience when travelling. Of course, there are other things BA does better, but getting the app right would be a significant improvement to the customer experience.
