Last summer we flew with MH from LHR-KUL, and did not seem to be able to book seats.
We are BA Silver
I kept checking, and about 4 weeks before travel, seats became available for booking, free of charge.

This year we are flying with BA, LHR_SIN, then MH to KL (one ticket) and when we booked we were assigned seats automatically on the MH flight.
