So no, if you want J for the price of Y, one needs to be proactive and flexible. The seats are out there - but generally not more than one per flight.
So is it really only 1 *A award per flight nowadays? It’s < 4 days to go, and still can’t upgrade my Mom. I will probably cancel my Eva tickets and then fly United business as it is confirmed (Econ + 30k miles). Should we wait a 2 more days? I need to sign them up for Taiwan Lucky Draw too so I need to confirm which flight they will be coming on. Ugh. Still 20 seats empty and they don’t want to release a *A award. There are still 9 z class, the same amount of business class seats, and no EVA members want to upgrade. So why don’t they just give it to UA members who have purchased expensive Y/B fares. Over $1400 per way for an economy ticket when Premium economy ticket is cheaper ($1300).
