Whenever I book a room using points and want to SUA, my Concierge checks with the hotel because there is apparently a subset of suite inventory for points bookings.
My understanding is they have to confirm with the hotel on a points stay because the system doesn't have the capacity to confirm an SUA as it does with a paid booking. System limitation, not inventory limitation.
