Here’s a few pics from a flight I took earlier today in D1 from SEA-ICN. Posting this from the KE lounge awaiting connection to BKK.
I’ll start by saying this was one of the best cabin crews I’ve encountered over the last few years in D1. Very attentive and friendly service, especially from the Purser. He not only welcomed each D1 pax, but asked each one if they would prefer a coursed delivery, or dine and rest, or if they would rather eat the main meal later in the flight. He also asked everyone’s preference on whether to be woken up for the arrival meal or not. I thought it was a nice choice rather than just simply confirming pre-orders or taking down new orders.
Starters of cauliflower soup, salad, dill prawns with creme freche, as well as a roll. The soup was excellent, while the prawns were rather on the small side and not the best. Salad was average and roll was sadly not warmed.
Main course limited selection of bratwurst, served with herb mashed potatoes, green beans, purple cabbage, and a mustard grain Demi glacé. The bratwurst itself I found quite good and a neat new option. The sides were a bit lackluster and all seemed to have a strange twang that I think originated from the cabbage. That said, would order again.
The usual D1 sundae. I’m happy to report it was not rock hard! So many times I’ve received it and been unable to eat it for quite a while. This was the proper consistency. Opted for chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and biscoff crumbles. A cherry sauce was also
offered but I skipped it.
Lastly, this pre arrival meal was the star of the flight. Cold buckwheat noodles with a kimchi sauce, cucumbers, green onions, and fresh fruit. Outstanding! One of the best dishes I’ve ever had on DL. Other choices were a lemon ricotta French toast bread pudding (which sounded too sweet and heavy for my taste after a long flight) as well as a spinach and feta quiche. I almost went with the latter, but decided to try the noodles and was super glad I did.
Now to see how KE compares tonight from
ICN-BKK…
