I took the BA888 from LHR to BEG at the end of Jan 2024. The flight was about three-quarters full. We departed from A22 at LHR and left the gate ten minutes early. I travelled in the economy cabin. Soon after takeoff, the crew came around with a basket of snacks that you could choose from. There were a few options, such as a cookie, dried fruit, a small packet of crisps, and a small bottle of water. The flight was uneventful and we touched down thirty minutes ahead of schedule. We were parked at the furthest C gate in BEG. It was about a tn-minute walk to passport control. A QR A320 arrived just ahead of us, so there was a small queue at passport control, but it moved quickly.
Upon exiting customs, we looked for somewhere to purchase a bus ticket for line 72. There was nowhere. I asked the driver if he would take cash/card and he was unable to. Lots more tourists got on the bus looking bemused as to how to pay for the ticket. He just waived everyone on. One person was nervous and kept asking the driver how to pay. He then showed her an image in the bus, which was in Serbian. From what I could work out, there was a number to send an SMS to with a code to the Zone you are travelling to or within. The person tried, as did we, without any success. So we took the ride into town without paying. As the bus drove into the city, there appeared to be inspectors along the route. Our bus was so busy that there was no room for anyone to get inside to check if people had paid.
The same occurred on the return service.
One thing I did notice was the times in Google Maps did not match the departure times of the bus. Nor did the timetables at the bus stops, which were dated 2022.
On the return, we printed our boarding passes at the hotel, so there was no need to visit a check-in desk. You clear customs first, then passport control, then security. This process took approximately 20 minutes on this day. I looked on the OneWorld lounge website to see if BA had an agreement with anyone, and nothing appeared, only QR. Nevertheless, I decided to try the 'Business Lounge' run by the airport operator. Again, there was no BA signage outside or at the reception desk. The lady on the desk was pleasant and said there was an agreement. The lounge is basic and old-fashioned. There was a coffee machine and some soft and alcoholic drinks, with ham and cheese as a food offering.
Boarding this time was from Gate A1. Instead of group numbers, they boarded using row numbers, which seemed to work well. The service in economy was similar on this sector as the incoming flight. The crew was very friendly, although they didn't know much about the BOB products they were selling. A quick flight time on this flight of 2 hours and 15 minutes. We arrived at a C Gate at LHR and there were no queues at the E-gates.
