I agree with your take. For the quoted section, that looks to me to be a Transition case, so if you got to Gold in say January 2025 then you are Gold to 30 April 2026 at least. This would be because you get immediate Gold in January, at that point your renewal period is now April, you get the full year plus a few months of the current qualification period. Mostly people who get Gold would have a good chance of renewing since they have over a year to renew Gold. On the other hand if the renewal is before 8 September 2024 then Gold would then end October 2025, however the autumn TP surge would perhaps be useful for the April 2025 recalculation.
