TATL is a trans-Atlantic flight.

What exactly is a YQI fee?
It's unclear exactly what YQI is. Airlines use two-letter codes for many taxes/surcharges. "YQ" used to refer to fuel surcharges. When airlines got in trouble for those, it was generally renamed "carrier surcharge". One thing that's odd about this business is WS seems to be using three-letter codes, YQI and YQF, for carrier surcharges.

Is a $960 YQI fee expected on a Companion Voucher when the fee is $180 on a regular ticket?
That's kind of the topic of this thread - why would WS be charging vastly different YQ on revenue vs companion voucher tickets?

Are you sure the fee was labelled as "YQI" on the companion voucher ticket? When I went through mine, the YQ on the companion voucher tickets was always labelled as YQF rather than YQI.
