In November 2023 I flew with Ethiopian Airlines from London Heathrow (United kingdom) to Somalia (transit Ethiopia). I had 2 pieces of luggage checked-in luggage, however only one of them made it to my final destination.

At destination they explained on the system it shows the missing luggage tag number was never loaded onto the plane and therefore must still be at London Heathrow. The airline also agrees but they say they can’t locate it yet.

I qualify for airline compensation but it will be tiny compared the value of the contents of my luggage as it contained a laptop and lot of gifts. I didn’t buy insurance as I couldn’t find insurance for “long stay” (3 months) for a country the Foreign Office advises against traveling to (any advice for suitable travel insurance is appreciated for future reference).

Is there a place at Heathrow airport which customers can access to look for their missing luggage?
