No recent detailed review so I'll provide more details than normal. Recent long stay here. Overall I was super impressed. Anyone looking for a 5* Asian Hilton experience will be very happy staying here.
Location
As per above the entrance is nearly opposite one of the street level entrances to the Emporium mall. From there it is easy to walk to the BTS station (and it is well signed). I won't review the mall but there is an excellent and very large supermarket and great movie theater where we went to watch a movie. It is much closer to the BTS than the Conrad, for instance. We took a hotel car service from the airport which was about 2100 THB, as I had traveled from Europe in Y and knew I would be really tired arriving at BKK. Service from the airport was fantastic.

Check-in
Great lobby with a pleasant scent which I couldn't quite place but I think may be the same as other Hiltons round the place. What's neat is there is a table in the lobby with a bunch of certificates showing the awards the hotel has won over the years (quite a few). Nice sculptures dotted around and a lot of space to sit. High ceiling. The times we asked the concierge for help the service was outstanding. Check-in was quick - no queue at all - I was offered to go to the EL to check in but there was no queue so stayed on the ground floor level. We never waited more than a few moments for a lift. There is a Japanese restaurant on the ground floor which we didn't go to and always seemed quite quiet.

Room
I was upgraded several days out from the base room to a junior suite. The pictures on the Hilton app and on TA don't really do the room justice. It feels much larger than the pictures and is extremely comfortable, although not a lot of drawer space. Two swivel style chairs facing the regular sized tv. A desk with an office chair and a kind of soft armchair facing the desk. Comfortable beds, great bedding, welcome amenity of bowl of fruit. Lots of bottled water in glass bottles which were replaced often. There was a nespresso-type machine which had segafredo coffee capsules. DIlmah tea. Bath robes and slippers, Very powerful AC. Sockets by the bed. Bathroom was also very large with a separate bath and absolutely fabulous rain shower. Amazing pressure. Large bottle Crabtree toiletries as usual. Double sink. Housekeeping service also excellent.

EL
The lounge is on the 4th floor which is a shame because on the top floor is a pool and the hotel gym. I couldn't help think that they got this the wrong way round - however the space at the top is maybe not big enough anyways as the hotel thins in stages as it ascends. As such there isn't any sort of view from the lounge. Breakfast is not currently served at the EL but I was told this is changing sometime this month. Lounge hours are surprisingly short - just 10am - 8pm. There are 3 meeting rooms along one set of windows, and an outdoor area taking up one corner. During the day there are bowls of freshly cut fruit, a fruit bowl, hotel made cookies and some dried fruit. Dilmah tea, coffee machine, Coke and Schweppes products, several juices. Afternoon tea is 2-4; evening cocktail 5-7. The weakest point of the stay for me was the afternoon tea which was quite limited and the food not especially nice. One really odd thing they do is only put 4 sandwiches out at a time (and only have one variety) so the staff are forever topping up. However the evening cocktail service more than makes up for it - it is really good. Three hot dishes, varying daily, a heavy emphasis on Italian options. One evening there was squid ink spaghetti in tomato sauce with shrimp, for instance. Daily soup. On the cold side there was a full and very complete salad bar, including several larger salads which varied by day - sometimes meat and sometimes veggie. Bread which was still warm. Really good cheese selection, cut and sliced beautifully and so appetizingly presented. Two plated deserts each day, western style, things like chocolate brownie. A lot of food and it was kept replenished throughout so that arriving later would not be a problem. I don't drink alcohol so cannot really comment but there were a lot of bottles of spirits on the table in the middle that was being operated as a bar by the staff. Alcohol was not self serve but everything else was. However the best part about the EL was the customer service which was really outstanding. A lot of staff who always seemed happy to see us and remembered our orders, etc. Brilliant. The presentation of all the food in the EL was absolutely exquisite, and there were 2 chefs there during the evening cocktail, checking the food and answering questions about it. I already mentioned the fruit plates but indulge me as I do so again - the skill with which these were cut and presented and the ripeness and flavor of the fruits were divine.

Breakfast
Served on the 2nd floor in Scalini, the hotel's Italian restaurant. Usual Asian 5* arrangement with stations arranged around the open plan kitchen area, where 4 chefs were cooking and preparing items to order throughout the service. Surprisingly there were almost no Thai dishes during our entire stay. However there was a congee station, noodle bar, several Indian dishes, rotating Asian noodle based dishes, egg station (witjh a notice indicating what could be ordered, including eggs benedict), huge table with fruits, yoghurt, bircher muesli, chia pudding, several western cereals, I think 5 juices of which the orange was freshly squeezed, pastry and bread table including a hot display with bread and butter pudding and warm croissants, french toast and waffles. Among the large number of hot western items were a hot pasta dish every day (there is an Italian bias to the food in general), various combinations of roasted vegetables. There was a cold cut and cheese station, the former including roast duck. The signage on the food was especially welcome - showing what contained pork, what was vegetarian, etc. Again a coffee machine and DIlmah tea.

Gym and Pool
As above, on the roof. Not especially busy. The cardio equipment has the most awesome views over the city - got to be one of the best views for training anywhere I stayed. Clean, towels provided, but not staffed.

Bangkok is not expensive for hotels at all, and so given my experiences the Hilton Sukhumvit represents great value for money. As an example, last year I stayed at the new Hilton Orchard Singapore which is more than twice the price. Overall wonderful stay. I loved it.
