Well TIL, I thought Hida terminated in Nagoya.

OP, if you do decide to go to Shirakawa-go, I recommend booking the bus tickets in advance. I waited until I got to Kanazawa to buy tickets at the counter, unfortunately for me, seats were all sold out that day and the next.
