Im afraid that isn’t correct for all use cases. Someone with a 8/4/24 year end who wishes to maintain status through the transition period should continue to travel in the period between now and 8/4/24 if they have not yet secured sufficient TPs for the status they desire. Not doing so may “waste” TPs earned in the period 9/4/23 until now.
There is a huge incentive however in that case to travel in the week between 1/4/24 and 8/4/24.
