I would agree with above sentiments regarding the downhill slide of the hotels. I've never stayed at the Plaza, but have not heard nice things. The Waldorf is definitely showing its age and I would not describe it as plush. I would shoot for the Four Seasons (not the Pierre), although I have also heard wonderful things about the Peninsula.
