This is just to satisfy my own curiosity. We have a PNR ticketed with *A RTW fare and I asked for a date change on one of the flights, and I was surprised to find that a new set of tickets were issued for the updated itinerary. However, in the past I've made similar changes (with a non-RTW ticket) which didn't result in new tickets.

What kind of change causes new tickets to be issued?
