That is probably just the Australian style - what you would class as BA professionalism *could* be classed as snottishness and aloofness, for example.
This point is often made regarding QF cabin crews in relation to other carriers, particularly Asian carriers. I have never had an unprofessional or unfriendly QF crew, but then being an Aussie I think I have the Australian SOH ingrained in me.
