pretzlaff : glad that you have enjoyed your holidays in Bali.
I saw your posts documenting your experiences at the Hilton & Conrad, very informative !
Especially as they serve (internally) as benchmark voor IC Bali Jimbaran.
Thank you for taking the time for your comparisons ..... always refreshing to read ...

And reading you posts ......
As if time slows down, as if Jimbaran turns into Boca Raton pensionado HQ,
Indeed IC Bali Jimbaran atmosphere seems to breathe slow mo relaxation .....
Compared to the high energy of Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu,&
The high maintenance influencing FOMO at Ubud resorts

I believe the only thing mirroring this relaxing island vibe is in somewhat sense to be found in Sanur.
But ofcourse Sanur's beach straddles a bit more hotels than Jimbaran beach.

This would not do. This went on way, way too long.
Finally, they gave in and took a picture of my screen shot.
They do what they are told without flexibility.
Odd for a classy place like this.
.
I can whisper a slight hint ......
From my discussions with front management,
The hotel has had "interesting" experiences with certain groups,
- showing a lounge pass screen shot
- having a very common family name
- having an "alias" english unofficial name
- having a booking with " initials"

After crossreferencing,
some of these groups were very defensive about the "eligability" vs "valid" term of the lounge pass
* cough * manipulation of lounge pass screenshot X * cough * award brokers * cough cough* 2nd guest but not primary guest but tertiary guest no matching name lounge pass vs account ** cough** no factual backup data available (unable log in app/account access) * 3x cough)

And as such as a standard operating procedure to combat such "incidents"
is to have the guest show all steps in the IHG-rewards app/online concerning the annual lounge pass for 4 eyes inspection.... (esp. those with no recent stay history /tenure)

I'm sorry you experienced a delay at check in,
i'm also sorry that they wouldn't tell you the true reason of these measures,
But that is the rigid procedure nowadays due to unfortunate past incidents.....

example i was told,
a family of 10 with limited none English skills checked in ... each demanding lounge access.
Prompted to provide the lounge pass by reception,
Each family member showed a screenshot of a lounge pass on their phone ....
Even the four kids had a lounge pass on their own phones (i was told they were 16< years)

Quite Amusing, i have to say ...

As the legal age to check in at most IHG hotels is minimum 18 years,
and as such an IHG-rewards member with at least 40/70 N for milestone awards: lounge pass
holding a "valid" lounge pass
can never be < 18 years (so ineligable)

The reaction of reception:

My reaction upon hearing this awful incident:

I don't even understand that one would go to such lengths while going on holiday ...
* sigh * there are award brokers out there that are just damaging to their trade
