I’d really like to see pictures of the flyers and the online application. How was the offer worded? Some spam flyers coming into my mailbox are addressed to “John Smith or current resident” - presumably that wasn’t used here. Did it say something, “John Smith, we are offering you an AA MC with a signup bonus”? Or “John Smith, we pre-approved you for an AA Mastercard; if you sign up with this offer code by 01/01/2028, you can earn 40k miles…”

(underlining added to emphasize the wording, but probably not used in the actual flyer)

Also, what information defaulted into the web UI after entering to code? And did it perhaps say something like “please make necessary corrections to your name or address” (Bob Smith is really Robert J. Smith for credit report review purposes and wants to use their P.O. Box for the card instead of the street address on the AA account) and the intention wasn’t to let someone completely different apply?

Did anyone capture screenshots back in the day?
