Which seats would you suggest? I am thinking about 10 A & D so I can look over, but have read that row 10 is to be avoided so have put her in 9 and myself in the ‘bad’ 10?
What do the expert think? It’s 777-200 CLT-LHR.

Depending on the 777 layout, you'll either both be facing forward or the person in 9 will be sitting backwards. In either case, due to the high walls, it will be difficult/impossible to see the other person without getting out of your seat. I would go with row 10 A/D. In particular, yes row 10 isn't great (it's the last to be served, so preorder meals, and it's close to PY, which could have more noise) but it's the best option. If your wife needs a window, you'll be across the aisle, with either your head next to her, or facing her, depending on the config. You could also ask the person in 10H to swap to be close, but then you'd lose the window.
